I have a request and am wonderin

I have a request and am wondering if this extension does what I need.
I need to have 2 different item rules; if a customer buys something from rule1 OR rule2, he pays 5 shipping costs. If he buys something from rule1 AND rule2, he pays 10.
Just to be thorough, there are a few dozen items with rule1 and rule2, and the surcharge needs to be applied only once.
Wondering if this extension works for what I need?

My extension goes by what the Payment method determines - which in most cases is Magento's default implementation that validates the type of credit card type. Interested in this extension to levy AMEX surcharge on purchases.

Can you confirm if this extension works with Fontis SecurePay extension under 1.6 community edition?

The Fontis extension does not seem to expose user selectable credit card types (AMEX vs visa etc - only credit card number etc capture). I presume your extension can determine if entered credit card number is an AMEX card to levy surcharges?

So basically it will resolve my problems :) Just to be sure, it should do these rules?: i need a rule - client group to be chosen - country to be chosen- the subtotal in the cart more or equal to $XX then no charge, if the subtotal in the cart less $XX then a $N fee;
the second rule - client group to be chosen - country to be chosen - the subtotal in the cart more or equal to $XX then %NN fee (from amount in the subtotal), if the subtotal in the cart less $XX then a fixed $NN fee.

Hi Fooman,
I buy this extension but it does not work with paypal. The surcharge is applied in the cart but not in paypal website. As a consequence :
- the order is done but with the status "fraud" and the surcharge do not appear in the detail but is effective in total,
- the payment in paypal website is also done but without the surcharge
Is there something I do wrong ? Thanks

This is a great extension, however just installed this extension on my clients test site and all totals, subtotals in shopping cart are all zeroised and handling fee not displaying. Using table rate shipping and want to charge and display and separate handling fee. The table reats shipping reates are being displayed. Using version 1.4.1.0

Anybody any ideas?

I have used the surcharge

I have used the surcharge extension for over a year and I have to say that it is a fabulous extension. No gripes from me in terms of functionality. I did discover some bugs in the past year but Kristof was very responsive and was able to fix the problems pretty quickly. I highly recommend this module.

BUT I need to make one BIG, important disclaimer. I just got notified by my bank that it is against my user agreement with Visa and Mastercard to do a surcharge on purchases with those cards. No problems with Discover/AMEX, only Visa/Mastercard. We are about to get charged $5000 unless we stop using the surcharge for Visa/Mastercard purchases. Ouch.

I am in Texas, USA where it is against the agreement. Other US states may not have the same restriction... and I have no idea about other countries. But I just wanted to warn everyone so you can do your own due diligence. This link might be old, but it has some good info. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/723060.html. You will definitely want to contact your bank. And I wonder about Paypal?

hi obcs, I have just helped a customer work out an incompatibility between OneStepCheckout (the standard version) and my extension. Essentially OneStepCheckout didn't refresh the totals at the right time to show the surcharge. I'd imagine a similar fix would be required for the Enterprise Edition.
