Speed up your store by minifying JS and CSS. This extension plugs into Magento's mechanism to load JavaScript and CSS and achieves better compression. It utilises the Minify library (released under a BSD license http://code.google.com/p/minify/).

Benefits

• Javascript and CSS are combined into two files each - one static (which if your theme is set up correctly will stay the same for all pages - improving cache performance) and one variable file
• Automatic Versioning - every time you update one of your JS/CSS files a new url gets created forcing the customer's browser to request the new version (be sure to update the Magento cache as well)
• Minify does its magic to ensure that CSS images are properly served no matter what package/interface/skin you are using.

* Installation of CANONICAL URLs by Yoast breaks this extension. A work-around is installed during installation if necessary.

* Installation of MXPERTS JQUERY BASE breaks this extension. A work-around is installed during installation if necessary.

Changelog

1. Unpack the downloaded zip file in your Magento root folder
2. Delete the contents of the /var/cache folder to force Magento to update its configuration (alternatively refresh the configuration cache in your Magento backend).
3. Minifying JS and CSS takes a while to compute. This only needs to be done once per JS/CSS combination and is then written to a cache. To make sure the cache gets filled up simply browse your store and your customers should have a faster experience than before.
