Features

Take your business to new levels with recurring revenues. With this extension you can easily add subscriptions to your Magento catalog. Imagine support contracts, rentals, maintenance fees, automatic replenishments of consumables, etc.

Once a subscription product is in the cart the customer will only be able to pay for it with PayPal. All other payment methods will automatically be hidden.

PayPal Limitation

PayPal Standard only supports 1 subscription per order. While I maximised what is possible there are still some implications which I think are best described with some examples:

Example 1
Order contains only 1 subscription -> Customer is redirected to PayPal to create an account and confirm the subscription.

Example 2
Order contains only 1 non-subscription item -> Customer is redirected to PayPal for payment
(this is the standard Magento PayPal integration).

Example 3
Order contains 1 subscription and 1 non-subscription item -> The price of the non-subscription item is added to the first payment. Customer is redirected to PayPal to create an account and confirm the subscription.

Example 4
Order contains 2 two subscriptions with the same terms -> the two subscriptions are combined into 1 and Customer is redirected to PayPal to create an account and confirm the subscription. Magento will still display these as two separate subscriptions.

Example 5
Shopping Cart contains 1 subscription with a one week free trial and weekly payments. When the customer tries to add a second subscription which has monthly payments it will display an error notice "Please order 1 subscription per order."

Requirements

1. Magento 1.4+
   This extension relies on functionality new in Magento 1.4 and I currently have no plans to support older versions of Magento
2. PayPal Standard Account
3. A cron job configured for Magento to deactivate cancelled/unpaid subscriptions

1. Unpack the downloaded zip file to your Magento root folder.
2. Delete the contents of the /var/cache folder to force Magento to update its configuration (alternatively refresh the configuration cache in your Magento backend).
